Apex has a well-deserved great reputation for high-quality shoes. Unfortunately, this model was not for me. Seems that the "toe box" was too high for my particular foot. Also, with the shoe's inserts and my (hard) orthotic, the shoe rim around my ankle was too high and rubbed into the bottom part of my ankle bone. The shoe is very well made and looks handsome. Wish they had fit me better.Great buy. Would buy again. Second pair for my son, fast shippingI am a 55-year-old make with a variety of foot problems. I have plantar fasciitis and a case of hammer toes that has worsened in recent months. I have probably spent over $1500 on a variety of shoes in the past six months. Many shoes out there that claim to accommodate hammer toes really don't provide an extra deep toe box, at least not enough to help me. Others contain this stuff vaguely referred to as "moisture wicking lining," which I find invariably make my feet much hotter than old fashioned shoes that never included this stuff. Maybe I am just wired differently than most people, but I hate all of this stuff--as far as I can it only needs to wick away moisture because it created it in the first place. Upshot: I have been/was deeply frustrated until I found these shoes. They are stylish, have an extra deep toe box, and are extremely comfortable to wear and walk in. You can easily add your own custom orthotics if you want, as the shoes comes with two included pads, either or both of which can be removed to help you customize your fit. The extra deep rubberized sole around the arch and heel area also provide a lot of extra support and comfort when walking or standing on a variety of surfaces.I like these shoes so much that in the past month I have bought four pairs, two of which I will put away and save for future use as needed (I have had the experience of finding a brand and style of shoe I like only to have it disappear). The two-tone brown goes well with khakies and the dark brown is dark enough to go with darker slacks in all but the most formal of settings. In short, if you have issues at all similar to me, I think you will find these shoes to be worth the money.
